The new USB Type-C port is very similar to the old USB Type-C port, which is found on most mobile phones and tablets.

It also has the same dimensions as the old USB (8.4mm * 2.6mm), and it features two-way connectivity.

That is, there is no one way to enter the connection, as is usual in all other USB ports such as the Lightning port, which is great convenience and security while connecting peripheral devices.

    Small size:

The Type-C (USB) port is a small port, approximately the size of a Micro USB port and its dimensions are (8.4 mm * 2.6 mm).

The USB Type-C port is based on USB 3.1, which is twice as fast as USB 3.0, transferring data up to 10Gbps.

    Compatibility with older versions:

The USB Type-C port is characterized by its compatibility with the old USB standards, and the ability to pass power up to 100 watts through a joint between them, and this connector carries the (USB Type-C) port from both directions.

    Wire entry in both directions:

USB can be connected from both ends and in either direction, unlike (Micro USB) which is inserted in one direction only.

    Multiple use:

As this port combines the work of three ports, namely USB, HDMI, and electrical supply, it transfers data and videos with a resolution of up to 4K and charges the device.

    High-efficiency electrical energy saving:

The port provides a high amount of electrical power that is enough to charge a laptop, and the ability to charge devices from each other.

    Compatibility with various devices:

Due to the small size of the port, it has become compatible with the sizes of many small electronic devices, such as smart mobile phones and tablets, as well as personal computers and desktops.

Ways to connect legacy USB ports with USB Type-C:

Older USB ports can be connected to a USB Type-C port by way of a small common connection between them called the USB Type-C Adapter.

Many companies have made these adapters, and these adapters support to HDMI or VGA and other ports.

The MacBook computer provides an adapter with only one port, while Apple has made adapters with many ports.
